Executive Director, The Children's Museum of Wilmington

Rick joins the CarolinaCAN board with our 40 years of experience in the education sector. He taught and worked in both public and independent schools, and served as the president of a local public charter school. Drawing on his experience in the classroom, Rick served on an NC Department of Public Instruction improvement team for low performing schools.    Rick holds a bachelor’s degree from Old Dominion University and graduate degrees from the University of Virginia where, as an alumnus, he served on the Curry School Foundation board of directors. He is past president of the Wilmington Rotary Club and a current member of the North Carolina Grassroots Science Museum Collaborative to improve the reach of STEM education. Rick is currently the Executive Director of the Children’s Museum of Wilmington where he works to inspire an ethos of playing to learn in children and of learning to play among adults.
