Executive Director, TFA Piedmont Triad

Nafeesha Irby is the executive director of Teach For America in the Piedmont Triad. Having moved from Brooklyn to North Carolina during her senior year in high school, Irby saw that the education she had received was vastly different from that of her peers. Now she works to end the same types of educational inequities she encountered as a student by working to bring a diverse, talented group of new educators to the Triad region. She began her career as a special education teacher and case worker in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school district, then went on to work as a teacher leadership coach at TFA Eastern NC. She is an alumnae of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and received her Master of School Administration from North Carolina State University. She’s also a Guilford County Guardian Ad Litem, serves on North Carolina A&T State University’s Young Alumni Council and is a proud board member of CarolinaCAN.
