CarolinaCAN statement on Gov. McCrory signing the Achievement School District bill into law

RALEIGH, N.C.— CarolinaCAN: The North Carolina Campaign for Achievement Now released the following statement on H.B. 1080 Achievement School District becoming law in North Carolina.

“I want to thank Governor McCrory for his work and signing House Bill 1080, Achievement School Districts. I also want to thank Representatives Bryan,Bradford, Brockman, and Senator Barefoot, for championing the bill through the legislative process,” said Executive Director Marcus Brandon. “This law will hold schools accountable for their students’ academic success. Too often, we allow underserved students to remain at a disadvantage. With the signing of this bill, North Carolina makes it clear that our low-income and minority students and their success are a priority.”
